Filson | North Cascades

A cinematic collaboration showcasing the grit, danger, and precision of those who keep the mountains open, and the gear that stands up to it.

Work. Weather. Wilderness.

Filson was built for it.

We want to tell a true story of grit and heritage following the Upriver Rockfall Mitigation team. Patrick Martin is a third-generation rock scaler that clears rockslides and stabilizes cliffs in the North Cascades - where Filson was founded.

Through their work, we see Filson gear not as fashion, but as life-saving equipment trusted where failure isn’t an option.

Why Filson?

This story brings Filson back to its roots.

From logging camps to modern cliff faces, the same spirit drives the work.

Authentic. Durable. Unstaged.

Partnership Proposal

The Ask

We’re looking to partner with Filson to tell a story that’s already unfolding in the cliffs of the North Cascades.

We’ve captured incredible footage of Upriver Rockfall Mitigation at work. This content can immediately be developed into a short branded film and photography series.

Or we can align on creative direction and deploy for URM’s next emergency response job, giving Filson first-hand access to raw, unrepeatable action in one of the harshest working environments in the country.

Deliverables may include:
• Hero film (60–90 sec)
• Short-form reels for social campaigns
• Still photography and editorial assets
• Optional long-form YouTube series highlighting “The Work That Builds the West.”

In either case, Filson gains a library of authentic, cinematic content showing their gear where it truly belongs - in the dirt, wind, and danger of the Pacific Northwest.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

DEVIN GROODY

I’m a photographer and filmmaker who has spent the last decade working around the world. I’ve toured as a photographer and cinematographer for Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard, and Incubus, capturing life on the road, backstage, and in the dust of outdoor stages.

When I’m not on tour, I’m usually somewhere far from a city: traveling with mission groups in Uganda, documenting conservation work in Kenya, or hiking, backpacking, and overlanding across North America.

I live in the North Cascades, just ten minutes from the national park - the same mountains that shaped men like Patrick Martin of Upriver Rockfall Mitigation. Coincidentally, Pat grew up in the small town I now call home… the same town that sits just ten minutes from where Filson once had their first outpost in Sauk City during the Klondike gold rush.

The roots run deep here.

I’m one of the Directors of Photography on the soon-to-be-released documentary American Sasquatch, and when I’m home, I spend most of my days shooting the landscapes and wildlife that surround my property - bears, coyotes, deer, eagles, and the rugged terrain that defines the Pacific Northwest.

My work focuses on authentic storytelling in unforgiving places. The tradesmen, conservationists, and everyday people whose lives are intertwined with the land. Whether I’m hanging out the side of a tour bus or climbing switchbacks with 40 pounds of camera gear, my goal is the same: to capture moments that feel true, lived-in, and enduring.

This project is personal.
It’s my home, my mountains, my community - and a chance to show Filson gear where it belongs: on the backs of people doing real work in the wildest corners of the Northwest.
